June 19 is Juneteenth. The date  commemorates the abolition of slavery. Freedom Day! The day of June 19, 1865 when the last remaining state of the South’s Confederacy was delivered President Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation to Galveston, Texas by Federal troops, over two years after its enactment!

The Rhode Island Black Film Festival recognizes this day with a virtual screening and discussion of films including PUSH OUT the Decriminalization of Black Girls and other 2020 selections
